Both Luke and McMurphy have a rebellious side. In the movie for One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest we have yet to see most of McMurphy's rebellion. Personally I like Luke more because of how he always seems happy while McMurphy can seem crazy sometimes. Both of these characters don't respect authority, which doesn't end well for them.
I noticed in both McMurphy and Luke that they became an inspiration for the underdogs in their society, They had a spirit that was difficult to break for "Nurse Ratched" Cuckoos nest and "The Captain" in Cool Hand Luke. I also like Luke more than Mcmurphy because he still smiled and never changed his personality even when he got his spirit broken for a moment
Both McMurphy and Luke are very alike because they both are the main source of rebellion. I saw some differences between them, in that Luke when he is showing acts of rebellion, he is more calm than the wild mcmurphy, and doesn't show as much anger as mcmurphy. They also both have sidekicks they develop relationships with, for Luke it is dragline and for mcmurphy it is cheswick
