One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest Movie

The movie shows McMurphy and Bromdem different than I had imagined reading the book. I think that the movie really shows the atmosphere of the ward very well. All the minor characters seem to be portrayed very well. My favorite scene in the movie so far is when McMurphy tries to teach Bromdem how to play basketball. What do you think the One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest movie?

  1. The movie is very different from the book. I agree with hunter in that the characters and the ward are portrayed very well and help develop the story overall. I think that Jack Nicholson as mcmurphy was a great choice because he really shows how mcmurphy is portrayed in the book as a very wild and energetic rebel.

  2. The characters in the movie are portrayed accurately just like the novel, the way the novel describes all of the characters appear exactly like I would've imagined. I agree with Aaron that the director who created the movie made a excellent choice by choosing Jack Nicholson after seeing him in the movie The Shining, he looked like a lunatic that should be in the ward after seeing that movie.

  3. One flew over the cuckoo's nest so far has been a good movie. It is like the book in a sense that all the characters are the same and Mcmurphy acts like his description, but many things shocked me. I imagined chief to look like a whole other person and i expected him to be able to talk for some reason since he was the narrarator of the book. I imagined him with short black hair and of caucasian decent even though i knew he was indian. The movie shows him as very very indian looking and huge. McMurphy didnt have red hair but I imagined him looking similar to that actor. The movie skips over many parts of the book and portrays parts alot differently like the boating trip, McMurphy breaks them out and takes them instead of Dr. coming too
