Students are very sleep deprived. They are not getting the necessary sleep to be able to function during school. As studies have shown, high school students tend to go to bed later, therefor they tend to wake up later. With the averae high school start time of 7:30, many students are not very awake in their early classes, and are not performing well in class.
If the start times were to be later than 7:30, students would get more sleep, and be more awake during class. This would lead to students performing better during class. Also they would feel better about going to school because they would be more awake since they got a better night sleep.
This brings up the point that the school schedule would have to change, and extracurricular activites would be later, and then the middle and elementary schools would have to change because of the bus schedule.
I think that the benefits outweigh the cons of starting later, although students with extracurriculars would get home later, i think that performance in school would increase and students would be getting better nights sleep which can also help them feel better.
What do you think about school starting later?

One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest Movie
The movie shows McMurphy and Bromdem different than I had imagined reading the book. I think that the movie really shows the atmosphere of the ward very well. All the minor characters seem to be portrayed very well. My favorite scene in the movie so far is when McMurphy tries to teach Bromdem how to play basketball. What do you think the One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest movie?
Thoughts on movie project
So far I think were doing well. We seem to have a good outline of our plans. Right now I think we need to work on next is how the video is going to be set up. What are your options on our project so far? What could be done to make it more successful?

Super Size Me
In the documentary Super Size Me, Morgan Spurlock goes on a 30 day McDonalds binge, eating only McDonalds. He does this to see first hand what the effects of McDonalds food is on the body, and if is truly one of the leading causes of obesity in the world.
Me personally, i could never eat just McDonalds for a whole 30 days. I would get sick of the same food very quickly. I also wouldnt want to risk harming my body with the processed food and other harmful substances that are in McDonalds food.
I think that McDonalds, and all fast food are a big cause of obesity in the world, but i also think that it is partially the peoples fault because they should know what this food can do to them, and they are making the choice to eat it. These companies are just trying to survive and create a product that people enjoy, and if people like it they are going to eat it.
What do you think about the obesity and fast food debate? Is it the companies fault? Or is it the peoples fault? Also would you ever do what Morgan Spurlock did and eat that much McDonalds?

Thoughts on "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest"
So far "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" seems like a very interesting book. What I find interesting is that it's told through the mind of a schizophrenic. The thoughts that go through people's heads while they have this condition are things that most people couldn't even imagine. In order to make Bromden's schizophrenia seem more realistic the author was under the mind altering drug LSD while writing the book. A question I have is: will Chief Bromden ever leave the ward, or will he never be cured?
